Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal from Darcy Lever.

Hello fellow hikers and fans of the great outdoors.

My next evening guided walk will take place this coming Wednesday, 17th January. Our route will start and finish at The Volunteer in Darcy Lever (BL3 1RS), and we will be heading over to the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal via Moses Gate Country Park and the Gravel Pits.

This walk amounts to about 7km, or just over 4 miles, and is largely very flat with no real noticeable ascent along the way. It should take us around two hours at an informal but steady pace.

There have been a lot of new members joining recently and, as always, everybody is most welcome. However, please make sure you wear sturdy footwear with good grip in case we encounter slippery or muddy terrain. And other than wearing appropriate layers, please bring at least a little water and DON'T FORGET A TORCH!!!

We meeting in Bolton town centre at the bus stop opposite the Alma (Shifnall Street) to catch the 511 bus at 18:25. Please arrive in a timely fashion. For anybody who needs to drive, there is on street parking available around the pub, where we will be gathering from 18:30 to leave for 19:00 prompt.

ALSO - the kind staff at the Volunteer have also offered to provide complimentary sandwiches and Tatty Hash for those taking part in the walk upon our return.
